Connect your Shopify store
Connecting Shopify is the single change that transforms SAGE from a generic digest into one grounded in your actual catalog, orders, and customers. It takes about thirty seconds.
The OAuth flow, step by step
- Open your SAGE dashboard and find the Connections section.
- Click Connect Shopify. SAGE asks for your store's
.myshopify.comsubdomain (e.g.midtownbooks.myshopify.com). - You're redirected to Shopify. Shopify shows the exact scopes SAGE is requesting — including
read_products,read_orders,read_customers, andwrite_productsfor the autopilot fixes. - Click Install app. Shopify hands you back to SAGE with a short-lived code; SAGE exchanges it for a permanent access token and stores it against your shop.
- You land back on the dashboard. The Shopify tile now shows Connected, and the next digest rebuild will ground itself in your real catalog.
What SAGE does with that access
SAGE pulls your product list and recent orders to ground the digest, and writes back three things when you approve them: product alt-text, SEO page title, and SEO meta description. Nothing else is modified on your storefront.
The reconnect banner
If you connected Shopify before 2026-04-22 — back when SAGE only asked for read access — your dashboard will now show a banner that says Shopify connection is read-only — reconnect to grant write access. This is expected.
Click Reconnect Shopify in the banner. The OAuth flow runs again, this time requesting the write scope. Your existing data and connection history are preserved — only the token is upgraded. After that, autopilot fixes go live immediately.
Disconnecting
You can disconnect at any time from the Connections panel in your dashboard, or by uninstalling the SAGE app from inside Shopify Admin. Either side revokes the token.
